Pulau Hujong located 14 miles off the coast of Mersing, situated between the larger islands. Pulau Kukup State Park (Ref: 1287) appointed on 31 January 2003, 647 ha, 01 ° 19′N 103 ° 25′E. is a mangrove island located approximately 1 km from the coast of south-western state of Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. A small island of mangroves (about 647.2 hectares), surrounded by marshes (about 800 hectares). The natural resources of Pulau Kukup never been studied in detail. The goal of turning this island into a state park to promote the conservation of this habitat in Peninsular Malaysia and to promote eco-tourism and provide avenues of research.

The main reason to turn Pulau Kukup was in a state park for conservation purposes, the Johor State Park Corporation strongly believes that an ecological assessment of the whole island was necessary that data on natural resources are scarce Pulau Kukup.
