			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Johor Bahru Zoo</strong> is one of the oldest zoo in the country. It was built in 1928 by Sultan Sir Ibrahim and was handed over to the state government to manage in the 1960s and open to the public in 1962.</p>
<p>There are 100 species of animals in the 5 hectares compound. The entrance charge is RM2 for adults and RM1 for chilren. The zoo opens daily from 8am to 6pm and is visited most during public holidays and school holidays. The Zoo has been administered the Palace of the Sultan of Johor, and believed to be one of the earliest established Zoo in Asia at that time.</p>
<p>The <strong>Zoo</strong> later changed its name to <strong>Johor Zoo</strong>, and is now under the management of Johor State Government. Located in the city, visitors are sure excited with various animals in here.</p>
<p>There are lovely parrots from Africa, Malaysia and tapirs also other exotic animals. Do not forget to visit <em>Johor Bahru Zoo</em> with sweet memories of domesticated animals in the zoo availables.</p>
<p>There are also other facilities such as horse tracks, parks and rest huts with more recreations variety to make your experience at the zoo a delight. There are also Singapore visitors come to the Zoo.</p>

Rarely visited by more than half a dozen people at a time, is quiet, clean, with views of view of the Straits of Johor on the western side of the road.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tanjung Piai is also known as &#8220;the southernmost tip of continental Asia. Tanjung Piai bears the name of this fern known locally as &#8220;Paku Piai. Is a type of fern that can live in saline conditions. Tanjung Piai is also home to many species of mangrove plants and animal species. Tanjung Piai State Park (Ref: 1289) wetland designated 31/01/03, 526 ha, 01 ° 16&#8242;N 103 ° 31&#8242;E is a state park consisting of mangroves and intertidal mudflats.</p>
<p>According to Wetlands International, Johor owns 28.7% of mangrove forests in Peninsular Malaysia (27,733 ha) or 4.7% of total forest cover of mangroves in Malaysia. Tanjung Piai covers 526 hectares of mangroves and 400 hectares of inter-tidal mudflats. Marshes are soft and muddy ground. It&#8217;s high in salt and low levels of oxygen (anaerobic). However, they are subject to hot and dry conditions.</p>
<p>Mangroves gazette as mangrove forest reserve (MFR) in Johor are administered by the State Forestry Department. Mangroves gazette as national parks and Ramsar sites in the Johor State Government are managed by the Johor National Parks Corporation (JNPC)</p>
<p>It is the only corridor that connects Pulau Kukup mangroves and wetlands Sungai Pulai. Five rivers dissect the Tanjung Piai State Park.The mangroves in this state park is a typical example of a Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera cylindrica dominated coastal marshes forest.The however, are large, ie in the southernmost tip of Tanjung Piai. Five species of large aquatic birds and 7 species of shorebirds seen feeding on these marshes. Tanjung Piai&#8217;s mangroves have been preserved in the past to protect the coast, as the immediate hinterland are cultivated farmland.</p>
<p>Retaining walls have been created along the west coast and east of Tanjung Piai to protect farmland from being flooded by salt water. Tidal currents with very erode Tanjung Piai coastal mangrove fringes is reduced to 50 meters in some places. The Tanjung Piai State Park is home to about 20 &#8216;true&#8217; mangrove plant species, plus 9 more species associated with mangroves, which shows the diversity of species in such a small area.</p>
<p><strong>Tanjung Piai National Park</strong><br />
Before becoming a national park &#8211; Tanjung Piai was part of Sg Pulai Mangrove Forest Reserve in the Department of Forestry PM. Johor National Parks Company was established under JNPC Enactment 1989 in Johor. Tanjung Piai approved by Johor State Government of Johor as a National Park in 1997. Ecological study was conducted by Wetlands International and Malaysia in 2001. In 2002, the park is open to the public. The park was declared a Ramsar site on 31 Jan 2003. Finally, Tanjung Piai Johor National Park was declared on 26 February 2004.</p>

<p><strong>The Legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang</strong><br />
On the death of her husband, the beautiful fairy princess and become a fact of his house in the mountains. During the 15th century, the Sultan of Malacca was encaptured for her beauty and proposed marriage.</p>

<p>In 1854, Alfred Russel Wallace &#8211; Charles Darwin&#8217;s contemporary author and a member of the theory of evolution &#8211; spent a week on Mount Ophir. Like others before him, and many others to come, which fell under the spell of its hypnotic beauty.</p>
<p>During his visit, Wallace recorded the presence of tigers, rhinos and elephants, as well as a number of plants, insects and bird species. The rhinos have long been extinct in the area and the mountain itself is now better known as Mount Ledang.
