Pulau Kukup

Pulau Kukup State Park (Ref: 1287) appointed on 31 January 2003, 647 ha, 01 ° 19′N 103 ° 25′E. is a mangrove island located approximately 1 km from the coast of south-western state of Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. A small island of mangroves (about 647.2 hectares), surrounded by marshes (about 800 hectares). The island’s extensive experience of mangrove wood back into the wood of the ’80s, however, mining operations had ceased island since August 1993. The regeneration of mangrove tree species has taken place since then.
The natural resources of Pulau Kukup never been studied in detail. As a result, these types of wetland habitats are under-represented and ignored in the list of wetland habitats of national importance. Pulau Kukup Park was officially official gazette under the jurisdiction of the Johor Corporation State Park on 27 March 1997. The goal of turning this island into a state park to promote the conservation of this habitat in Peninsular Malaysia and to promote eco-tourism and provide avenues of research.
The main reason to turn Pulau Kukup was in a state park for conservation purposes, the Johor State Park Corporation strongly believes that an ecological assessment of the whole island was necessary that data on natural resources are scarce Pulau Kukup. Wetlands International, was commissioned by the Johor Corporation State Park to conduct a study on the ecological assessment of Pulau Kukup, Johor.
